The exhibition "a cloudy day" presents a selection of video works by Calixto Ramirez Correa (b. 1980, Reynosa, MX) in the Passage, an exhibition space of the artist residency Eau&Gaz in Appiano/Eppan Italy.

Calixto Ramirez Correa’s works emerge from a sensitive practice situated in the everyday. He shows us how acting in relation to our surroundings freed from patterns directed by functionality can generate poetic actions that always contain a substantial political dimension. He confronts us with a body that is inevitably reacting spontaneously to external forces for an end that is uncertain and unstable, but that in this reaction creates frictions, consciously opening up windows of emotional subjectivity. Through this metaphorically embracing attitude towards the environment the artist reconfigures the value of structures and objects that have a preconceived meaning while reaffirming the importance of sensitivity and ultimately, experience.

Ramirez Correa invites us to take part in a view of art that is inseparable from the daily. A practice that is dematerialized but concrete, that blends in between, that creates statements with minimum gestures, that explores surfaces and objects in a continuous interplay. In his art, a cloudy day can generate a carnival for spiders, a fountain can become a surrealist stage and a pile of leaves might be the perfect place to hide.

Die Ausstellung "a cloudy day" präsentiert eine Auswahl von Videoarbeiten des Künstlers Calixto Ramirez Correa (geb. 1980, Reynosa, MX) in der Passage, einem Ausstellungsraum der Künstlerresidenz Eau & Gaz in Eppan/Italien.

Calixto Ramirez Correas Arbeiten entstehen aus einer sensiblen, im Alltäglichen angesiedelten Praxis. Der Künstler zeigt uns, wie das Handeln in Bezug auf das, was uns umgibt, frei von den durch Funktionalität geprägten Mustern, poetische Handlungen hervorbringen kann, die immer eine substanzielle politische Dimension enthalten. Er konfrontiert uns mit einem Körper, der unweigerlich spontan auf äußere Kräfte reagiert, mit ungewissem und instabilem Ausgang, der aber in dieser Reaktion eine Reibung erzeugt und somit bewusst Fenster der emotionalen Subjektivität öffnet. Durch diese Art, die Umgebung, in der wir leben auf metaphorische Weise zu umfangen, werden vorbestimmte Bedeutungen von Wertstrukturen und Objekte neu konfiguriert und gleichzeitig wird die Wichtigkeit von Sensibilität und Erfahrung bekräftigt.

Ramirez Correa lädt uns ein, an einer Vision von Kunst teilzunehmen, die untrennbar mit dem Alltag verbunden ist. Eine entmaterialisierte, aber konkrete Praxis, die sich in den Zwischenräumen der Bedeutung tarnt, die mit minimalen Gesten Äußerungen schafft, die Oberflächen und Objekte in einem kontinuierlichen Experimentieren erforscht. In seiner Kunst kann ein bewölkter Tag einen Karneval für Spinnen erzeugen, ein Brunnen kann zu
einer surrealistischen Bühne werden und ein Laubhaufen könnte der perfekte Ort sein, um sich zu verstecken.

La mostra "a cloudy day" presenta una selezione di opere video dell’artista Calixto Ramirez Correa (nato nel 1980, Reynosa, MX) nel Passage, uno spazio espositivo della residenza d'artista Eau & Gaz ad Appiano/Eppan Italia.

Le opere di Calixto Ramirez Correa emergono da una pratica sensibile situata nel quotidiano. L’artista ci mostra come l'agire in relazione a ciò che ci circonda liberi dai pattern diretti dalla funzionalità possa generare azioni poetiche che contengono sempre una sostanziale dimensione politica. Egli ci confronta con un corpo che inevitabilmente reagisce spontaneamente alle forze esterne per un fine incerto e instabile, ma che in questa reazione crea attriti, aprendo consapevolmente finestre di soggettività emozionale. Attraverso questo modo di abbracciare metaforicamente l'ambiente che abitiamo, l'artista riconfigura le strutture di valore e gli oggetti che hanno un significato predeterminato, riaffermando l'importanza della sensibilità e in definitiva, dell'esperienza.

Ramirez Correa ci invita a prendere parte a una visione dell'arte che è inseparabile dal quotidiano. Una pratica smaterializzata ma concreta, che si mimetizza negli interstizi di significato, che crea enunciati con gesti minimi, che esplora superfici e oggetti in una continua sperimentazione. Nella sua arte, una giornata nuvolosa può generare un carnevale per ragni, una fontana può diventare un palcoscenico surrealista e un mucchio di foglie potrebbe rivelarsi il luogo perfetto per nascondersi.
